A four year varsity starter, standout outfield position player and pitcher while at Derby High School. Securing a Housatonic League title 2012, Class S 2012 runner up and two All State Selections 2013 & 2014. In the 2012 season, Sal posted an 11-1 record on the mound with a 1.07 ERA.
A graduate of University of Massachusetts Boston where he earned a Bachelor’s degree. Sal played collegiate baseball while at UMASS Boston. A four year starter helped secure two Little East Conference titles 2016 & 2017, three New England Regional appearances 2015, 2016 & 2017 and played in the 2017 DIII College World Series – Appleton Wisconsin.
Finished at UMASS with a team .707 winning percentage, breaking a school record playing in 178 games, 51 stolen bases and third in triples all time. Sal was known as a prolific defensive center fielder and caused havoc on the bases.
